Energy Procurement - UK green energy

The green electricity market as been transformed over the last few years, first with the introduction of the Climate Change Levy (CCL) and then with the introduction of the Renewable Obligation (RO).

For those customers who prefer green energy then it can be purchased without paying a premium.  However extra care is needed for green energy procurement to ensure that it adheres to HM Customs and Excise rules in order to avoid any CCL obligations.

It is also important that customers understand the many differences in green energy and we recommend that you read our section Green energy overview. Those wanting to publicise the fact that you are using green energy should take special care as some forms of so called green energy do not qualify and some are not recognised by environmental groups.
